About the Journal

Polish Evaluation Review (Polski Przegląd Ewaluacyjny) is the first interdisciplinary academic journal in Poland devoted to the evaluation of projects, programmes, and public policies in both theoretical and empirical dimensions. It provides a platform for publishing texts covering a wide range of topics related to evaluation, as well as diverse theoretical approaches.

The journal offers a space for reflection on the evaluation process, including various theoretical perspectives and methodological challenges associated with conducting evaluation studies, assessing the quality and usefulness of evaluation findings (the meta-evaluation dimension), the axiological foundations of evaluation research, ethical issues related to such studies, the aims of evaluation, the possibilities and limitations of using evaluation results, and the role evaluation plays—or should play—in public life. It also serves as a forum for presenting and analysing the results of evaluation research.

In addition, the journal functions as a platform for the exchange of views between the Polish evaluation community and the international community. It is addressed to both domestic and international authors and readers. Accordingly, original and previously unpublished texts may be submitted in two languages: Polish and English.

The journal is published once a year exclusively in a free electronic (online) format on the website of the Polish Evaluation Society.

The main body of the journal consists of scholarly articles devoted to evaluation issues, including theoretical studies on evaluation (its concepts, perspectives, approaches, theories, methods, axiological foundations, ethical issues, and aims), meta-evaluation studies focusing on the assessment of the quality and value of evaluations and the usability of their results, as well as papers presenting and analysing previously unpublished evaluation research findings characterised by high-quality empirical material. In addition, Polish Evaluation Review publishes reviews of academic publications in the field of evaluation.

An important aim of the journal is to focus not only on scholarly issues but also on dissemination-oriented activities. Therefore, it also welcomes reviews of evaluation reports, conference reports related to evaluation, and information on ongoing evaluation studies. Authors of reviews are encouraged to focus, among other aspects, on the originality of the approach, the methodology employed, the correctness of applied methods and data collection and analysis techniques, the identification of good practices in the use of tools and approaches discussed in the reviewed publication, as well as the rigour and depth of reasoning and the relevance and usefulness of the recommendations.
